Act I: Mrs. Georgia Mae Pollard (Gran Gran) was the second of twelve children born to the late Willie George and Dalphie Juanita (Dilworth) Alexander in Alcorn County. She was born June 29, 1948, and departed this life on October 29, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with St. Rest Missionary Baptist Church where she also attended school.
Act II: Gran Gran endured rheumatic fever and other health concerns at a young age, but like the true fighter she is, she overcame and graduated from Alcorn Central High School in 1970. As one of the oldest siblings in the Alexander clan, it came naturally that she was a nurturer. A few of her siblings felt she was a "second mom," a role she happily carried into her next act.

Act III: Gran Gran's next act unfolded into a beautiful and one-of-a-kind love story that spanned 46 wonderful years with Mr. Kenneth "KP" Earl Pollard, who preceded her in death in 2019. Through this union, she became a devoted member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Known throughout the community as the babysitter for many, she lovingly embraced the role of "Momma” to two cherished children, Kenneth Earl Pollard Il and Kenya LaTausha Peterson. Among her many callings, being a wife and mother were among her greatest joys. She was truly the homemaker of homemakers-the kind whose cooking could make you forget your troubles. Family members recalled tiptoeing through the house just to sneak a bite of her delicious meals while Paw Paw was resting before work. And just so we're clear—I am the one and only amazing grandson, and Kenya is my mom. Okay, next ACT!
Act IV: Gran Gran took great pride in caring for her family- cooking, hosting gatherings, and looking after every newborn and toddler that would let her hold them. She cherished long conversations with her godchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, and if you knew her, you knew loved to talk on that phone! But let's be clear-Gran Gran loved to spoil me most of all! My Momma always said I got away with things she used to get whippings for. I loved sitting with Gran Gran Paw Paw, listening to them lovingly fuss and fight over me. And trust me, she made sure I performed for every visitor-whether it was singing a song or "preaching" a sermon. If Gran Gran had bee savvy, I'm pretty sure I would've gone viral!
Act V: Gran Gran leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and cherished memories to her devoted son, Kenneth Earl Pollard II of Corinth, MS; her beloved daughter, Kenya LaTausha Peterson Corinth, MS; and her adored grandson, Xavier Peterson. She is also lovingly remembered by h siblings: Vernita Moore of Portland, TN; George (Doris) Alexander and Velicia Alexander Guys, TN; Rev. Willie (Tammy) Alexander of Huntsville, AL; and Kathy Cook of Dallas, T in-laws James L. (Annie) Pollard, Jake T. (Carolyn) Pollard, Christopher T. (Lynn) Pollard; Ethel Pollard all of Corinth, MS and John K. Wyke of Markham, IL. She will be fondly remembered aunts, Alice Young of Dallas, TX, Levirdia McCroy of Milwaukee, WI, and Willette Floyd of Michie, TN; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever treasure memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie George and Dalphie Juanita Alexander, and six siblings: Nancy Finley, Marie Alexander, Ella Burkett, Brenda Scales, Arbienell Alexander, and Marvin Alexander.
