Marie Alexander Obituary

Marie Alexander was born on April 29th 1952 in Corinth, MS. She was the fifth of twelve children born to Willie George and D. Juanita Alexander. Marie carried an infectious joy and brought smiles to any room she entered. She valued family, friends and faith above all else.
Family – Her love continues
Marie was a caring sister to Vernita Moore, Georgia (Ken) Pollard, George (Doris) Alexander, Rev. Willie (Tammy) Alexander, Kathy Cook, Brenda Scales,  and Lisa Alexander.
Marie was a loving mother to Chad (Chanyn) Alexander, April Wade and Brittney Wade; and a wonderful grandmother to Tiarra Patterson, Yasmin Wade Triance Williams, Michael Wade and Seraphine Sinester-Alexander. Her parents and four siblings Nancy Finley, Ella Burkett, Arbienell Alexander, Marvin Alexander preceded her in death.

Fond Memories – Her legacy continues
Marie was a proud mother and loving grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. "She was my backbone and my best friend" ~Yasmin Wade
As a mother she was always there for her children and would go above and beyond to make sure they had everything they needed. She was always just a phone call away. She would shower them with gifts, compliments and an unconditional love like no other. "The best mom ever." ~Chad, April, Brittney

She was a dependable sister who was always there for her siblings providing guidance, a listening ear, and smile on her face. "She was adventurous, always happy, cheerful and forever young." ~Lisa Alexander

Marie shared a motherly bond with her nieces and nephews.  “If no-one else was there, Aunt Marie sure was.” ~Sherea Burkett

Friends- Her lessons continue
Through her childhood on the farm at Shiloh Road in Guys Tennessee, her school days at St. Rest Elementary, Easom and Alcorn Central; through her work career at ITT/Cortelco, Monogram and MCDS; Marie never met a stranger. She welcomed several friends, co-workers and friends of her children into her extended family.
A true fashionista, Marie had a passion for shopping and traveling. She always looked fabulous and classy, which matched her beautiful, heart-warming smile and colorful personality.
Faith- Our hope continues
On Sunday, September 20, 2020 Marie took her last trip.  This time Chad didn’t purchase a ticket, Brittney couldn’t make the travel plans and April wasn’t asked to make sure the house was in order.  The ticket was purchased on a hill called Calvary, the travel agent was a man named Jesus who had already prepared a house for Marie. It’s God’s promise to His children, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:3)
On the day Marie traveled to her new home she left behind to cherish her memory and celebrate her life her three children Chad (Chanyn), April and Brittney, her siblings (Vernita, Georgia, George (Doris), Willie (Tammy), Kathy, Brenda and Lisa; aunts, Alice Young, and Levirdia McCroy and Uncle Henry Alexander; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rest well Moma, Granny, Sister, Auntie, Friend-until we meet again.
