Obituary for Rosa Lee (West) Alexander
Rosa Lee (West) Alexander was born on August 14, 1939, in Alcorn County, Mississippi, to the late James Andrew West and Cotelia McClellon West. She was a proud alumna of Pilgrim Rest Elementary School and Eason High School in Alcorn County, later continuing her studies at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).
From a young age, Rosa was an active member of Little St. Luke Baptist Church of Shady Grove, before becoming a devoted member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, she exemplified a spirit of hard work and dedication. Rosa was employed at ITT Telecommunications, followed by World Color of Corinth. She later retired as a lead machine operator from Kimberly-Clark in Corinth, where she had worked for many years.
Rosa was united in marriage to the late James Lee "Blue Tick" Alexander, and together they shared 63 years of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Their union was blessed with three children.
Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Lee Alexander; their son, Tommy Alexander; her parents, James Andrew and Cotelia West; two sisters, Bertha Ratliff and Peggy Jefferson; and three brothers, James Willie West, Louis West, and Lee Andrew Pain.
She was also preceded in death by a host of aunts, uncles, and other relatives who held a special place in her heart.
Rosa leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Theresa Alexander (Felix) and Douglas Alexander (Le Nora); her grandchildren, Timothy Williams, Shaun Alexander, Sharda McCoy, and Jasmine Nichols, along with a number of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her four sisters, Mary Carpenter, Ethel McDonald (Billy), Betty Billips (Cheyenne), and Katherine Pounders, as well as one brother, Terry West (Sue).
